Work shirt with Coca-Cola patches, made by the Hart Manufacturing Co. of Columbus, Ohio, circa 1940s to 1950s. The green gray shirt with green gray buttons and two breast pockets has a round red patch on the left breast, embroidered in yellow and white, that reads: Drink Coca-Cola, Trade Mark, In Bottles. The patch on the left shoulder, red with yellow embroidery, reads: Celebrating Our First 50 Years. Both patches are stitched on by hand very neatly, likely by a professional tailor or seamstress. The maker’s label inside the collar back reads: Harco Deluxe, Uniform Shirt, Union Made, Hart Mfg. Co., Columbus, Ohio, Sanforized, 14 1/2 -32. A smaller label at the bottom hem has a number on it and words that are too faded to decipher. I found similar Harco Deluxe work shirts on the internet that seem to date to the 1940s and 1950s. Coca-Cola had two 50 year anniversary dates—1936 and 1950. The later seems more likely for this work shirt. I suspect this shirt would have been for a teenager or young man, judging by the smaller size. The shirt is very well made and is in very good condition with only minor wear consistent with its age and gentle use. I see no damage—no holes, no tears, no stains. The shoulder patch does have a stiff fold in it, due to being stored flat for decades. A really great looking vintage Coca-Cola work shirt!
