Item Details

If this copy of the 1932 Hyannis Port Yacht Club Constitution and classified list of members – including at least eight Kennedy family members – wasn’t owned by JFK, it appears to have belonged to a member of his close family. “Kennedy” is inscribed in pencil inside the front cover -- with a stylized "K" that appears to be a combination "J" & "K." Members listed include “sustaining member” Joseph P. Kennedy Sr., “senior member” Joseph P. Kennedy Jr. and “junior members” JFK, Eunice, Kathleen, Patricia and Rosemary. Winners of annual races are listed, including the presentation of The Challenge Cup by Mrs. (Rose) Joseph P. Kennedy, and “special class” race wins by Kathleen and Eunice in their boat, No. 6. The listing of the Yacht Club “fleet” includes No. 6; Joe Jr.’s Tenovus; and JFK’s VIctura. JFK came in fourth place for the year in “senior one-design class” racing; he took first place on July 28. This 38-page treasure is from a Cape Cod estate. It was printed by The Sewickley Printing Shop, Sewickley, Pa. The cover has some condition issues, but the inside pages are generally clean and crisp.
