A finely woven Shirvan 3'6" x 6' woven in the east Caucasus circa 1890.
It has a classic design that is now referred to in the trade as "Lesghi Star", although this carpet design originated in the Jamjanli and Zeyva villages in the territory of Shirvan and not by the Lezgian people. In any case, this is a great example of this type, with a crisp well balanced design and a beautiful green in the center star. Condition is good, and the edges and ends are secure. Note: photos were taken both in natural and artificial light.
