Pair of Small Watercolor Portraits by William Gosse 1853

Item Details

Pair of watercolor portraits by William Gosse, dated 1853.  The sitters are wearing fine clothing and sitting in profile.  Records indicate Gosse was born in 1808 in Worcester, England and moved to Newfoundland in 1822 before returning to England in the 1840's.  The birdseye maple frames and glass appear original.  They are in very good condition with very minor fleck losses.  Overall: 17" X 14 1/2".  Frame interior: 13" X 10 1/2".  Sight: 12" X 8 1/2".
