Large turned maple wood bowl with figuring and good patina, from a Montville, Connecticut, estate, mid to late 19th century. The bowl has a turned band around the top edge. I believe the wood is maple with birds eye figuring, more noticeable on the outside. It has just the right amount of wear and patina. There are some minor dings around the outside edges, but the bowl has no real damage—no cracks, breaks, or significant chips. This came from an old house in the Massapeag section of Montville. I have not cleaned it. The bowl is not perfectly round. It measures between 14 ¼” to 15 ¼” in diameter, and stands about 4 ½” tall. The bowl is in very good condition with only the wear expected of a carefully used domestic tool. A really nice example of a New England made turned wooden bowl!
