Great, signed 1928 studio portrait of Australian tenor Alfred O’Shea (1889-1954), by Tornquist Studio, Queen Street, Auckland, New Zealand. O’Shea studied with Griffin Foley and was a member of his Gregorian Choristers about 1905. As “Alfred Shea,” he worked on the Fuller's variety circuit in 1915. Studied in Europe in the early 1920s, and returned to Australia to tour with Melba-Williamson Grand Opera Company in 1924. He made numerous radio and concert appearances 1925-1929. He was involved in much publicized divorce in 1928; he left for the United States in 1930. He performed concerts and tours in the U.S., 1931-1936, and moved to England in the late 1930s. Slight foxing. Measures 7.75 x 9.75 inches.
