This 2-gallon Worcester stoneware jug was likely made by F. B. Norton, though the Norton name is not impressed into the clay. Or perhaps it was made by a former Norton employee? You can see the Norton influence in the work. No matter, how is it possible to create such a perfect symmetrical design with cobalt slip?
MEASUREMENTS: Approximately 9-1/2" tall x 10" diameter.
CONDITION: This piece is in nice shape. The ears are perfect. The top and bottom rims have 2 under-the-glaze chips, so these occurred at the time of manufacture. There are 3 chips on the inside of the rim; 1/2" x 1/4", 1/4" x 1/4" and 1" x 1/2". There is a small crack in the top rim only. You can see these clearly in our photos. There are a few typical glaze pops.
