A beautiful example of Turkish village weaving, this Bergama 4'11" x 6'7" was woven circa 1890 in western Anatolia. This rug has a bold geometric design reminiscent of the Caucasian carpets to the east, and a very similar rug is published in the Oriental Rugs Series Vol 4 - Turkish by K. Zipper & C.Fritzsche on page 18, plate 15. It is in very good condition with some professional restoration, and the edges and ends are stabilized.
